Idris Salaam (b. 1996, Brooklyn, NY) is an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, video, and installation. He received his BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2021. Salaam’s work has been exploring how rituals and structures of labor shape our perception of time. Through image reduction, he investigates themes of memory, grief, and presence, using recurring motifs to chart both personal and collective experience. His solo exhibition You Can Be A Robot, Too was presented at Bungalow in London (2022). Over the years, he has also participated in group exhibitions at venues such as Zodiac Pictures in Los Angeles, Westbeth Gallery, Anonymous Gallery, and 86 Walker Street in New York. In 2025, Salaam began organizing experimental performances under the name Younus, expanding his visual language into live contexts.
