I’m Jacinta Maude, a visual artist based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia, working across painting, installation and sculpture. My practice explores a range of themes, with a particular focus on motherhood – both as an intimate act of care and as something shaped by broader political, social and historical forces.

I hold a Master of Contemporary Art from the Victorian College of the Arts, where my graduate project Field Work received the Fiona Myer Award. The series comprised domestic objects from my home cast in plaster panels to explore the relationship we have with the things we keep beyond their purely utilitarian function. My work has been exhibited in group exhibitions across Australia and is held in several private collections, including the Fiona Myer Collection.

During my two-month stay at Nes, I’m hoping to slow down, experiment, play with locally found materials, and connect with other artists and the surrounding landscape. I’m already feeling deeply inspired by the beauty of this place and the incredible writers and artists around me. I’m excited to see where this time leads.
