Dave Hebb is a US based photographer whose work examines the ubiquitous artifacts of western civilization in banal and ordinary settings, focusing on incidental juxtapositions of form and meaning. Additionally, he looks inward, searching for personal associations and emotional connections as it relates to the idea of “place”. At Nes he has continued working on his long term project “Á Landinu” which is an exploration of how Icelandic identity is connected to the land, and how the built environment reflects this complex relationship. However, his main focus this June has been documentation of the sea as a daily meditation on time, light, and self as a relationship Skagaströnd. The common theme between these two projects is the metaphorical relationship between self and place and how the physical world can both shape and reflect inner states of being.
