Alexa R. McGinn is a Canadian playwright, actor, and writer based in Mohkinstsis (Calgary) in Alberta. She has performed at the Victoria Fringe Festival, the Calgary Fringe Festival, and the Common Ground Festival. She had produced her own work, including a solo-show, Celexia, and its TYA adaptation under her tiny theatre company, Citizen Theatre.
Her work has begun to focus on space and the cosmos…but that wasn’t intentional. What is intentional, however, is her focus on how our differences make us more alike and can bring us together. At NES, she’s spending her residency working on her new play, Rave Alien, a play about an alien who comes to Earth and discovers raves and EDM, which is getting surprisingly emotional.
When she’s not theatre-making, you can find her cuddling her nearly identical cats, playing D&D, and going down rabbit holes of interest. Her most recent rabbit hole was the history of the chocolate chip cookie and how it was definitely not something one could have whipped up in 1839. Devastating.
