Brigid Meredith is a visual artist from  Australia, working in painting, sculpture and installation. Her work is influenced by the materials she works with and their physical characteristics and properties.

Approaching her practice in an intuitive and expressive manner, her work is influenced by PostHumanist concepts. The human/nature binary has similarities with the object/subject binary – as one is usually dominated and subjugated by the other. Post Humanism suggests multiple ways of flattening these binaries, not only in an artistic sense but also in the social, political etc. Moving to an approach of exchange and reciprocity can have interesting and liberating effects on the material, artist and audience – something she seeks to express in her work.

During her time at NES she is focusing on absorbing the colours, textures and sensations of the landscape to create larger abstract works which involve a more bodily approach to painting. You can see more of Brigid´s work at www.brigidmeredith.com  and @brigidmeredith_
