Essie is an American painter exploring identity through philosophy and culture. Her work looks for the unlikely connections between differing ideas, leading to surreal imagery she hopes will inspire new ways of seeing. While in Skagaströnd, she is studying the connection between black holes and our individual understanding of time, while painting and taking photos.
Somma grew up in North Carolina, has lived in 4 states and 7 countries, and has been backpacking for 3 years while creating art, climbing mountains, and reading books.
