Grit Reiss is an artist from Mainz, Germany. She works in the media of photography, installation and video. Her work is based on observations of social developments and their impact on human existence. She uses the imaging properties of the camera to change the visual perception of reality. “[Grit´s] works irritate the viewer by both blurring and breaking down the boundaries between illusion and representation of reality,” says Prof. Judith Samen.
In performative stagings in front of the camera, fusions of bodies and simple materials are created that touch, irritate and require a second look. In Skagaströnd, she continues her work by engagement with the powerful Icelandic landscape – inspired by the histories of Icelandic mythical figures.
