Director – NES Artist Residency, Skagaströnd
NES Artist Residency in the coastal town of Skagaströnd invites applications for the position of Director.
The Director is responsible for the daily operations of the residency, including marketing and communications, financial management, preparing grant applications, and organizing events. The Director works closely with the Studio Manager, who oversees the studios and apartments and handles day-to-day contact with the artists in residence. The Director also collaborates closely with the Board of Directors on strategic planning and the continued development of the residency.
This is a 50% position based in Skagaströnd. Partial remote work may be possible, and working hours are by agreement. There is potential for an increased percentage of the position in the future.
Qualifications
- A university degree in the arts and/or culture is desirable, or other education relevant to the position.
- Good written and spoken English skills.
- Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
- Experience in project management in the fields of art, culture, or event organization is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and strong interpersonal skills.
- Initiative, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude in the workplace.

About NES Artist Residency
Founded in 2008, NES Artist Residency hosts around 100 artists each year in Skagaströnd. The program has become an integral part of the local community, enriching it with diverse cultural perspectives. The NES website is https://neslist.is/.
Skagaströnd is home to around 450 residents offering all essential services, including a primary school, kindergarten, sports center, and vibrant community life for all ages. The town is well known for its diverse cultural activities, thriving music scene, and strong sense of community.

Forstöðumaður – Nes listamiðstöð á Skagaströnd
Nes listamiðstöð á Skagaströnd auglýsir starf forstöðumanns laust til umsóknar. Forstöðumaður ber ábyrgð á daglegum rekstri listamiðstöðvarinnar, þar á meðal markaðs- og kynningarstarfi, fjármálum, gerð styrkumsókna og skipulagningu viðburða. Forstöðumaður starfar náið með verkefnastjóra, sem sér um dagleg samskipti við listamennina sem dvelja í Nesi, og vinnur jafnframt með stjórn félagsins að stefnumótun og áframhaldandi uppbyggingu starfseminnar.
Um er að ræða 50% starf, með starfsstöð á Skagaströnd. Möguleiki er á fjarvinnu að hluta og vinnutími er samkvæmt samkomulagi. Til greina kemur að auka starfshlutfall síðar.
Hæfniskröfur
- Háskólamenntun á sviði lista og/eða menningar er æskileg, eða önnur menntun sem nýtist í starfi.
- Góð færni í töluðu og rituðu máli á ensku.
- Kunnátta í öðrum tungumálum kostur.
- Reynsla af verkefnastjórnun á sviði lista, menningar eða viðburðastjórnunar er kostur.
- Sjálfstæð vinnubrögð og færni í mannlegum samskiptum.
- Frumkvæði, áhugi og jákvæðni í starfi.
