Makayla Danielle Gay is a writer and visual poet from Kentucky.  She utilizes photo collages and watercolors to accompany and replace text in poems. At NES she is compiling a collection of essays in memoir, titled “The Breakfast Sonnets”, about eggs, art, bodies, and money. She is also working on a collection of watercolor comics of her dog, Mumford. During her August residency, she began painting comics of the nearby horses into a series called “HORSE REPORTS:”  She would like all the horses to know that they can trust her.
